Recently, the Design Asia Forum (DAF) was grandly held in Shanghai. The curtain wall project of the Shanghai Opera House, constructed by Sistec, was honored with the DAF Golden Scale Award.

The Design Asia Forum (DAF) is an international professional conference themed "Building Skin Design and Application." It focuses on the fields of architectural design, curtain wall engineering, material innovation, and urban renewal, aiming to promote technical exchange and business cooperation within the industry. Its influence is expanding from an "Asian-level" to a "global-level" event. The DAF Golden Scale Award is a professional award established by the conference in the field of curtain wall engineering, representing the highest level of curtain wall construction in Asia.
Shanghai Opera House Curtain Wall Project
The curtain wall system of the Shanghai Opera House project is characterized by its complex structure and unique form. Its facade adopts a Z-shaped layout, with the dimensions of this plane gradually and regularly changing along the building elevation. The roof is a stepped, irregular plane. These features significantly increased the challenges in both design and construction.
To address these challenges, the Shanghai company implemented three key measures: First, a specialized team composed of excellent design and construction management personnel was established, simultaneously setting up a Party Member Vanguard Team to strengthen organizational support. Second, the advantage of planning first was fully leveraged; a 3D model was created using an intelligent BIM platform to achieve rapid design finalization and control installation accuracy. Third, numerous technical difficulties were overcome, including the construction challenges of special structures such as the nation's largest span refined steel curtain wall (29.1 meters long / 16 tons single weight), super-sized non-rib all-glass curtain walls (10 tons per single panel), and a 30-meter ultra-long pre-cast UHPC prestressed cantilever beam
